What's Blooming Today?

I have found a new love--fabric dyeing! A couple Saturdays ago, our local quilting group held a workshop on fabric dyeing. These are all the fabrics I dyed. First, we started with just one color and changed the gradation of the dye. My one color was blue. See how it goes from light blue to dark blue? Next, we mixed two colors together. My two colors were yellow and turquoise. We started with just one of the colors and then added the second color mixing the ratio. In the first photo you can see my first color--yellow. Mixing yellow and turquoise in different ratios gave me all those pretty greens. The last fabric had only the turquoise. I had some white linen that I had purchased for a specific project but realized that it just wasn't going to work. So I decided to cut them into fat quarters and dye them. The linen on top was my clean up "rag". The linens came out gorgeous. I still don't know what I'm going to do with them, but whatever it is, it will be beautiful!!! We also experimented with parfait dyeing--the fabrics in the last picture. It's hard to see how delicious these parfaits came out because the picture is only showing a sliver of each fabric. I will certainly be adding to my collection of dyed fabrics. I think I'm missing reds, pinks, purples, yellows, etc...
And, Let Your Imagination Bloom!
